about me
Photography and cars have been in my blood literally for as long as I can remember so the combination of the two is ideal for me!
In the early days I learnt much of my trade from my father who is also a photographer, and then from years of playing around with beat up old manual 35mm cameras. From '96 to 2000 I studied photography to an Honors Degree level at the Glasgow School of Art. During this time I also worked part time in the photographic and motor trade which funded my education and fueled my knowledge further. Now at 29 my passion for cars and photography is ever expanding, and I'm always looking forward to my next automotive assignment!
where I'm based

I work from a combination of from home in East Kilbride and my Studio in the Southside of Glasgow. I'm ideally placed for quick and easy travel, and don't mind doing a bit of driving to get to a location either! Scottish feature cars are my specialty, but recently I've also traveled for jobs in the North and Midlands too. Two and a half hours will see me in either Manchester or Inverness!

rates

I'm happy to consider work from magazines, individuals and companies for both commercial and personal uses.

My usual magazine package includes quality contact sheets, a picture labeled DVD of RAW files and full resolution Jpegs.

Also I offer competitive discounted rates for personal car photography, just give me a call or email for more info and a quote.

my equipment

My pro-spec Nikon D2x is my main camera body, 12.4MP, 8.5 frames per second and excellent image clarity from corner to corner especially when using my trusty F2.8 pro lenses.

I also use a Bowens portable studio setup with always at least 3 main lights for maximum creativity and powerful coverage. Also I have invested in a large custom fabricated rig for full car action shots which require minimal retouching.

my cars
I've owned this Capri for just over 4 years now, and in that time it's had 4 engines! The latest I've built is a highly strung 150BHP 2.0 pinto which is a lot of fun but now a YB is very tempting. Over the time I've owned this car it's use has ranged from being a 30k a year daily driver to a drag, track and even drift car!. For more on my Capri check out Classic Ford magazine's 'Our Yard' section every month or so.

Here's me giving it some opposite lock on the Crail drift track! Click here

Years ago this was my main car, but has ended up being my project car. It's a LHD dutch import and unusually very solid for a MK3 Escort! Originally a 1.1L then fitted with a Turbotechnics tuned S1 RS Turbo motor, but currently things are getting serious for this Escort...... A 300BHP 8000RPM SiTech Racing ZVH is very nearly ready to be dropped in and thrashed!

Check out my monthly page in Fast Ford's Staff Cars section for updates!

On shoots I usually take my trusty RS style MK4 Escort Estate which I travelled a 900 mile round trip to buy earlier this year! Yes, I really am that much of an old Ford nut!

Recently I've fitted a 2.0 Zetec in it, along with teh full running gear and much of the trim from an S2 RST as well. Next on the cards is a recently ordered Weber Alpha throttle body setup which should see power raised to around 180 BHP.

A bit of a diversion from my usual Fords but I have always had a soft spot for 80s Dubs! It's a 16v GTi 3 door, on H&R suspension, with a stainless exhaust , full leather and a working fuel computer!

It's a bit rough and ready though, so the plan will either be get it on the track or get to work on making it a real looker.....

My latest obsession has become Alfa Romeos! Earlier this year I bought a 155, 2.0 Twinspark 16v..... and then proceeded to thrash it to death....

My plan was to swap in a Fiat Coupe Turbo lump, but just in the nick of time this very clean (and almost identical looking) V6 came up for sale.
It's got bags of torque, and now with an astoundingly sweet sounding custom exhaust I have to say I'm loving the new car..... so the turbo ideas can wait!
